Oslo Aquarium

Project Credit: Haptic Architects

“AQ is part of a new waterfront development, focussed on the role of the ocean, sustainable ocean based industries, ocean tech and more. It will be one of the most significant ocean campuses in Europe and will form an important part of the regeneration and conservation of the fjords of Norway.” - Haptic Architects

Nick Elias worked with Haptic director Tomas Stokke on the concept design and strategic development of the Aquarium. The concept derives from the form of a ‘svaberg’, a rock formation naturally found in Norway. The undulating volume is a casement housing several ocean related activities and education hubs. AQ uses new technologies to address our perception of, and responsibility towards, the ocean.
